Online ADHD Testing

Two people holding hands in a comforting gesture.

Objective Computerized Testing as Part of Your ADHD Evaluation

Aspire ADHD offers remotely administered and monitored computerized ADHD testing for eligible children, adolescents, and adults throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire who are completing a comprehensive ADHD evaluation.

We use the IVA-2 Continuous Performance Test (CPT), a computerized assessment that measures aspects of visual and auditory attention and response control. The IVA-2 provides objective information about patterns of performance that may be associated with difficulties involving sustained attention, impulsivity, consistency, and response control.

Online IVA-2 testing is completed remotely under the monitoring of Aspire ADHD testing staff. Remote monitoring helps ensure that standardized testing procedures are followed, testing conditions are appropriate, and interruptions or technical issues that could affect test validity are identified.

The IVA-2 is used alongside your comprehensive clinical evaluation, developmental and medical history, current symptoms, functional impairment, standardized rating scales, and other relevant diagnostic information.

Computerized testing does not diagnose or rule out ADHD on its own. Your IVA-2 results are reviewed and interpreted by your psychiatric provider as one component of your comprehensive ADHD evaluation.

What to Expect During Your Online Testing Appointment

  • Your online testing appointment is scheduled in advance and completed remotely using a compatible computer in a quiet, private environment.
  • At the beginning of your appointment, Aspire ADHD testing staff will verify that your testing environment and computer setup are appropriate and provide instructions for completing the assessment.
  • You will complete the IVA-2 Continuous Performance Test, which measures visual and auditory attention and response control.
  • The computerized testing portion typically takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Additional time may be required for instructions, setup, troubleshooting, and completion of testing procedures.
  • You must remain connected to the remote testing session and follow all instructions provided by Aspire ADHD testing staff throughout the appointment.
  • Your test results will be reviewed and interpreted by your psychiatric provider as part of your comprehensive ADHD evaluation.

Preparing for Online ADHD Testing

  • To help obtain valid and interpretable results, please follow all pre-test instructions provided by Aspire ADHD.
  • Get adequate sleep the night before testing and eat normally before your appointment.
  • Complete the test using a compatible computer in a quiet, private location where you are unlikely to be interrupted.
  • Close unnecessary programs and browser windows and silence phones, televisions, music, notifications, and other potential distractions.
  • Use any glasses or hearing devices that you normally require.
  • A parent or responsible adult may be required to assist with setup or remain available for younger patients, depending on the child's age and testing requirements.
  • Follow any medication instructions provided by your psychiatric provider.
  • Do not stop, change, or skip prescribed medications unless specifically instructed to do so by your healthcare provider.

What Happens After Testing?

  • Your IVA-2 results are reviewed alongside your clinical interview, developmental history, medical and psychiatric history, current symptoms, functional impairment, standardized rating scales, collateral information when available, and other relevant diagnostic information.
  • Your psychiatric provider will interpret your IVA-2 results within the context of the comprehensive evaluation.
  • During your follow-up appointment, your provider will discuss the findings of your evaluation, diagnostic impressions, and individualized recommendations for treatment and next steps.
  • When clinically appropriate, patients may continue care with Aspire ADHD for ADHD treatment and medication management.

IVA-2 Testing Fees

  • IVA-2 computerized testing is not billed to insurance and requires a separate out-of-pocket fee.
  • The testing fee includes administration of the IVA-2 Continuous Performance Test and a written report of your test results. A $100 deposit is required at the time of scheduling to reserve your testing session.

Patients Using Insurance for Clinical Services: $350

  • For patients using insurance benefits for eligible clinical ADHD evaluation and follow-up services.

Self-Pay Patients: $450

  • For patients who are not using insurance for their clinical ADHD evaluation and related psychiatric services.

Start Your ADHD Evaluation

Comprehensive online ADHD evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Connecticut.

If you are concerned that you or your child may have ADHD, a comprehensive evaluation can provide clarity, identify factors that may be contributing to symptoms, and help determine the most appropriate next steps for treatment.

At Aspire ADHD, objective computerized testing may be incorporated into the evaluation process to provide additional information about attention, response control, and patterns of performance that can support diagnostic decision-making and individualized treatment planning.

Computerized ADHD testing is not reliably covered by commercial insurance plans and may require an additional out-of-pocket fee. However, it offers patients access to objective testing at a substantially lower cost than a comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation.

Take the first step toward getting answers and developing an individualized treatment plan for you or your child.
